Nanti Parrarly

The following pictures are examples of the drawing intervention at Laboratorio das Artes in Guimarães.

This set is an example of the investigation I’m starting at the moment on Figures of Representation and Queer (I)Logic. Begun as a conversation on some topics with F.V. when he pointed me the fact that perhaps we have to get ride of representation and its vicious nature (at least as a contemporary element), and so should go back to direct speech.

Representing and presenting a dialogue situation as if some parts of the dialogue were already taking place (since I present a lot of text on the surface of the walls) the exhibition opens and the work-word is already there. There is the possibility to read or to ignore. Or since I left chalk there, to write, to answer back, to erase and correct whatever you feel to. This way people aren’t threatened by my presence.

This is a political manifesto. But the message is not clear and it doesn’t aim be that. The use of Polari still reinforces the appeal of a specific context and a communitarian ethos, specifically the queer (dis)culture. This was the first experience at this level. Time will bring better and more valuable solutions… I hope.

The exhibition All my Independent Women was also presented at the library 100º página in Braga, being exhibited from the 26th till the 5th of November. Sorry, i haven´t been able to update the news so often, but please check out all the info and more images following the link.
